Help, from God directly

Psalm 73:23-24 In your anger do not sin: Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.

Commentary: God holds us, even during the times when we do not seem to have the strength to do the holding ourselves. Our comfort comes from two key points:

  • God guides us through His counsel. We do not have a passive God; and
  •  God's leadership is from this world into the next. Notice here that it does not say we will necessarily have the benefit in this world. God's helpful hand is to get us out of this world.
